First of all, I got the chance to write a thoughtful piece about rodeo for a great magazine, Oregon Humanities. The article, “Rodeo City,” is in their Spectacle issue.
Also, I wrote four comics coming out over the next few months. Exciting! The first is a history comic about the life of Oregon governor Tom McCall. Then on Free Comic Book day, check out a comic I wrote called “Terrible Sex Advice from the 1940s” in Tugboat Press’s anthology Runner Runner. The final two comics are collaborations for Symbolia, a new digital magazine of graphic journalism. They’re very different: One digs into the lives of people in nonmonogamous relationships while the second—due out in June—explores the experiences of female Guantanamo veterans.
In other good news, the book I edited for cartoonist Matt Bors just received a great review in Publisher’s Weekly.
